Feel every turn
A long buzz when a turn is coming up, then two taps for left and three for right. You can keep your eyes on the road.
Search by voice
Say a place, a postcode or an address, or type it on the watch keyboard. Nearby places come first.
Wrist-down mode
Lower your arm and the screen drops to a black, low-power view showing just the next turn and how far away it is.
Works with the screen off
Guidance keeps running from the watch face as an ongoing activity, and finds a new route on its own if you go a different way.
Built for small screens
A dark map tuned for round OLED displays, big turn arrows, and zooming with the crown or bezel.
Spoken directions
Optional voice instructions through the watch speaker or your Bluetooth earbuds.
Free and Pro
- Wear Maps (free): walking directions, place search, the explore map and recent places.
- Wear Maps Pro: everything in the free app, plus cycling and driving directions, satellite view, and Home and Work shortcuts. One payment through Google Play.
What you need
- A watch running Wear OS 3 or later, such as a Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch 4 or newer.
- An internet connection on the watch (Wi-Fi or LTE) or through a paired phone, to search and to get routes.
- Location on. Watches without their own GPS use the paired phone's.
Privacy
No account, no ads, no tracking. Your location is used to guide you and is sent only to Google Maps to find places and routes. See the Wear Maps privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
- "Can't get your location": step outside for a clear view of the sky, and check location is on in the watch's settings.
- No cycling route: Google doesn't have cycling directions everywhere. Try walking or driving.
- Leaving the map: on map screens, swipe in from the left edge to go back.
